Itinerary Details

We begin with an early morning pickup from Arusha or Moshi and drive to Marangu Gate (1,860m)—the official starting point of the Marangu Route, located on the eastern side of Kilimanjaro. After registration and a safety briefing, your mountain guide leads you into the dense, green rainforest.

The hike to Mandara Hut (2,700m) takes approximately 3–4 hours, depending on your pace and interest in the surroundings. Along the way, you’ll pass ancient trees draped in moss, spot playful monkeys in the canopy, and enjoy informative insights from your guide about the region’s ecology and culture.

At Mandara Hut, we take a well-deserved break and enjoy a packed picnic lunch. If time and energy allow, we may take a short detour to the Maundi Crater, which offers spectacular views of Kibo Peak, Mount Mawenzi, and even Kenya’s Amboseli Plains on a clear day.

After soaking in the beauty and snapping plenty of photos, we descend back to Marangu Gate and return to your hotel by late afternoon.
