Everything You Need to Know Before Your Journey Begins.
To ensure smooth and stress-free travel with GameDrive Africa, all international visitors must comply with Tanzania’s entry visa regulations. Understanding these requirements helps you prepare early and enjoy a seamless arrival experience.
1. Visa Eligibility
Most international travelers require a visa to enter Tanzania. Citizens of visa-exempt countries may enter without a visa for a specified period. Please verify your nationality’s status before traveling.
2. Types of Visas Available
Tanzania offers the following commonly used visas:
Tourist Visa: For leisure travel, safaris, and cultural tours.
Transit Visa: For travelers passing through Tanzania for no more than 7 days.
Multiple-Entry Visa: Suitable for frequent visitors or business travelers.
GameDrive Africa recommends the Single Entry Tourist Visa for most safari and trekking adventures.
3. How to Apply for a Visa
Travelers can obtain a Tanzanian visa through any of the following methods:
a. Online e-Visa Application
The easiest and most recommended option.
Apply through the official Tanzania Immigration website and receive approval electronically.
b. Visa on Arrival
Available at major entry points such as Kilimanjaro International Airport, Julius Nyerere International Airport, and major border crossings.
However, processing may take time, so applying online in advance is advised.
4. Required Documents
To obtain a Tanzanian visa, you will generally need:
A valid passport with at least 6 months remaining before expiry
A recent passport-size photograph
A completed visa application form
Flight itinerary or travel confirmation
Payment for the visa fee (amount varies by nationality)
For multi-entry visas, additional documents such as business letters may be required.
5. Visa Fees
Visa fees vary depending on nationality and visa type. On average:
Tourist Visa: $50 USD
Multiple Entry Visa: $100 USD
Transit Visa: $30 USD
All fees are payable to the Government of Tanzania and are non-refundable.
6. Important Notes for Travelers
Children require a visa unless they are citizens of exempt countries.
Passport must be machine-readable and not damaged.
Travelers may be asked to show proof of onward travel or accommodation.
Always apply early, especially during peak safari seasons.
7. Health & Vaccination Requirements
Some travelers may be required to present a Yellow Fever vaccination certificate—especially if coming from, or transiting through, a yellow-fever-risk country.
8. Staying Compliant
It is the traveler’s responsibility to ensure they meet all entry requirements. Failure to present the correct documents may result in denial of entry. GameDrive Africa is available to guide you through the process and answer any questions.
