Meals Included: Bed & Breakfast

Day 1: Momella Gate to Miriakamba Huts

After breakfast, you’ll drive to Arusha National Park and then continue directly to the trailhead at Momella Gate. The journey takes about 2.5 to 3 hours. Upon arrival, guides will assist with entry permits, and the trek to Miriakamba Huts begins.

Along the way, you may encounter zebras, warthogs, monkeys, and antelope—and occasionally even elephants. Upon arrival at camp, enjoy a hot lunch. You can then relax or explore the surrounding area.

Elevation: 1,387 m to 2,514 m
Hiking Time: 5–6 hours
Distance: 10 km
Difficulty: Medium
Habitat: Meadows and rainforest
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 2: Miriakamba Huts to Saddle Huts

After breakfast, the group continues upward toward Saddle Huts. Shortly into the hike, the forest gives way to moorland and heath, offering wide-open views and dramatic landscapes.

Once at camp (3,570 m), those feeling energetic can opt for a short acclimatization hike to Little Meru Peak, enhancing your body’s adjustment to altitude. Hot lunch and dinner will be served at camp.

Elevation: 2,514 m to 3,570 m
Hiking Time: 4–5 hours
Distance: 8 km
Difficulty: Medium
Habitat: Heath and moorland
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3: Saddle Huts – Socialist Peak – Miriakamba Huts

Wake up just before midnight and begin your summit push to Socialist Peak. This stretch is challenging, especially the ascent to Rhino Point and Cobra Point, which are steep and exposed. Caution and a good head for heights are essential.

Arrive at Socialist Peak (4,565 m) around sunrise to witness breathtaking views and a truly magical sunrise. Afterward, descend all the way back to Miriakamba Huts for a hot meal and a well-earned rest.

Elevation: 3,570 m to 4,565 m, then down to 2,514 m
Hiking Time: 8–12 hours
Distance: 19 km
Difficulty: Medium
Habitat: Alpine, heath, and moorland
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4: Miriakamba Huts – Momella Gate – Return to Arusha

After breakfast, you’ll descend using the northern route, which takes 2 to 4 hours. Although shorter than the ascent, the route still offers chances to spot giraffes, buffaloes, elephants, and colobus monkeys.

At Momella Gate, say goodbye to your mountain crew. Your driver will transfer you back to Graceland Hotel in Arusha for celebration and rest.

Elevation: 2,514 m to 1,387 m
Hiking Time: 2–4 hours
Distance: 7 km
Difficulty: Medium
Habitat: Rainforest
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch

Note: The summit stage includes a few unsecured passages. A strong head for heights and stable footing are necessary. During heavy rain, ice, or thick fog, the park ranger may cancel the summit attempt. We do not recommend climbing Meru in April or May due to the rainy season.
